Tips for Cosmetic Makeovers
If you are going for a job interview, you’ll first dress sharply to make a good first impression. And if you’re going out dancing or to the movies with a date this weekend, you may have already gone shopping for clothes so that you can look your best. The same idea applies to showing off your property, so if you are thinking of selling your house, first give it a good cosmetic makeover so that it looks great. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get impressive results, and buyers are inclined to pay more for a property that the seller has obviously taken pride in and cared for nicely.
Paint is relatively inexpensive, so a good choice to add value to your property is an interior and exterior paint job. Choose neutral colors, because they will appeal to the widest group of people, regardless of their personal taste, and if you want to save money use contractor grade paints, which are sold at a discount. Another way to spiff up a property without spending too much is to do a quick landscaping makeover, by adding inexpensive but colorful flowers, a sharp looking layer of new mulch, and by trimming the grass and perhaps adding some new lawn furniture.
A great way to get ideas is to drive through nice neighborhoods and see what others have done to make their homes look attractive. Take notes, borrow a few ideas, and then do the same things at your place, to enhance its outward appearance and market value.
